A prefronto-parietal network model with feedforward and feedback connections
نویسنده
چکیده
The cortical network of the prefrontal cortex (PFC) and the posterior parietal cortex (PPC) has been suggested to play central roles in visuospatial working memory processing and attention. However, how these areas contribute to such processes remains obscure. To investigate this, I here propose a layered network model of the PFC and the PPC with feedforward/feedback-type corticocortical connections. Computer simulation with this model shows that the feedback and feedforward connections critically control the time course of the neuronal activity of the PFC and the PPC. c © 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. The Importance of Lateral Connections in the Parietal Cortex for Generating Motor Plans
Substantial evidence has highlighted the significant role of associative brain areas, such as the posterior parietal cortex (PPC) in transforming multimodal sensory information into motor plans. However, little is known about how different sensory information, which can have different delays or be absent, combines to produce a motor plan, such as executing a reaching movement. To address these ...
متن کاملSelf-organization of hierarchical visual maps with feedback connections
Visual areas in primates are known to have reciprocal connections. While the feedforward bottom-up processing of visual information has been studied extensively for decades, little is known about the role of the feedback connections. Existing feedback models usually employ hand-coded connections, and do not address how these connections develop. The model described in this paper shows how feedf...
متن کاملRole of STDP in regulation of neural timing networks in human: a simulation study
Many physiological events require an accurate timing signal, usually generated by neural networks called central pattern generators (CPGs). On the other hand, properties of neurons and neural networks (e.g. time constants of neurons and weights of network connections) alter with time, resulting in gradual changes in timing of such networks. Recently, a synaptic weight adjustment mechanism has b...

متن کاملTime Delay and Data Dropout Compensation in Networked Control Systems Using Extended Kalman Filter
In networked control systems, time delay and data dropout can degrade the performance of the control system and even destabilize the system. In the present paper, the Extended Kalman filter is employed to compensate the effects of time delay and data dropout in feedforward and feedback paths of networked control systems. In the proposed method, the extended Kalman filter is used as an observer ...
